Guess the Israeli poker pro who joins the elite ranks of three-time bracelet winners

high stakes pokerIt’s not easy to win a WSOP bracelet but Eli Elezra has done it thrice!

The Israeli poker player claimed his bracelet number three in the $1,500 Seven Card Stud event. His victory made him join the top ranks of three-time bracelet winners.

Elezra finished his third final table of the 2015 World Series of Poker, beating 237 players and taking home $112,591. Well, this is an added achievement for the 54-year-old former lieutenant of the Israeli military. His skills and passion for poker seems endless despite his age.

The Las Vegas pro first won in Event #24: $3,000 World Championship Seven-Card Stud Hi-Low in 2007 for $198,984 and Event #59: 2-7 Triple Draw Lowball in 2013 for $173,236.

Elezra had to overcome about a 3-1 chip deficit heads up against Benjamin Lazer after Allen Cunningham bowed out of the tournament in third. He needed just about two hours to turn that 10-big bet stack into his third bracelet. He got the last of it when he ran down Lazer’s wired queens, running a straight with and to leave Lazer’s unimproved queens dead before he could even squeeze out seventh street.

“This one was really special to me,” Elezra said. “It’s the game many of us grew up on and it’s played by the most experienced players. When I won the Deuce-to-Seven [in 2013] that was very nice, but I really take extra pride in this one because so many well-known players have won it before me.”

On the other hand, Benjamin Lazer who has now been runner up twice in his four WSOP finals finished second while Alan Cunningham who missed out on a chance to win his sixth WSOP bracelet became the third placer in the event.

The Seven Card Stud event winner became famous to millions of fans when he began appearing on the TV show High Stakes Poker, where his run-ins and banter with Sammy Farha entertained the audience and provided an insight into some very loose and aggressive high stakes cash game play.

Obviously, Elezra is already a household name in the poker world. He might not be as popular as Daniel Negreanu and Phil Ivey but he’s considered a veteran poker pro who inspires other amateur and pro players to strive harder in their craft. Besides, he isn’t just a poker player but a successful businessman. Truly, Elezra is a keen poker pro who thrives on both TV and business!
